DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCY

Background
The Department of Accountancy is one of the Departments in the School of Business Studies. The Department offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy. Diplomates of the Programme should be able to effectively perform a range of functions in the field of Accountancy, Insurance, Banking and other financial institutions.

Curriculum Structure
The structure of the curriculum of all ND Programmes consists of four main components. These are:

  • General Education Courses including courses in Entrepreneurship Training;
  • Foundation Courses;
  • Professional Courses;
  • Supervised Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

The curriculum of each Programme is structured into four semesters of classroom/workshop/laboratory activities within the institution and three (3) to four (4) months of Supervised Industrial Work Experience Scheme in the relevant industries.
